A night at the movies....

Thought i would share another little surprise activity the Manly Seabirds experienced last Wednesday night at training. Now firstly let me make it clear that we train every Wednesday night from season start to season end – even if we have the bye then weeks of away games ahead of us OR if Origin is on – the Manly Seabirds still train. No rest for the wicked they say! So seeing as we are all so use to this routine and know no different it’s a shock when things get shaken up a little.

We also have a training dress code at Manly and are supplied with a variety of different tops to wear (which are uber adorable) and our outfits each week consist of a crop top, bike shorts, stockings and shoes. Even on the coldest of nights we still have to make this outfit combo work for us – so the colder it gets the harder we work in order to stay warm! Yep. She’s a total drill sergeant that Monique Carroll – haha. I kid I kid.

So when we all got a message saying to “please make sure you rug up in warm comfy clothes to training” – it immediately set little sirens off in our heads that we were in for something new. I instantly thought “uggghhh its a field rehearsal on quite possibly the coldest & wettest night in history” and many of the other girls had similar scenarios floating around in their minds on what exactly lay ahead for us. So when we arrived at the rehearsal studio and found that the doors were locked but yet the lights were on and we could hear mumbling from the inside we were all thrown for six. What was she doing in there??

When the doors finally opened and Monique popped her head out of the door we didn’t know what to expect – until we saw the room had been set up as a CINEMA with a complimentary dinner & candy bar service to boot!!! Oh yeh – Hallelujah for the break night!

Monique had set up a runway of pom poms which led us to our allocated seating to then sit back, relax, eat and enjoy all the moments we have experienced so far as a squad this year. We were treated with viewing all the images from our bikini shoot day along with many other fun game day memories and then it was a movie night. And holy moly let me tell you – there were some absolute stunning images that flashed before our eyes.

eeekk I may be biased but im saying it anyway - some of the girls images were just spectacular and all round yummy yummy uber delish! Monique succeeded yet again in pulling off another of her “Mayyyyjah” surprises for us all and we couldn’t be more thankful!

While reminiscing on our summer shoot it got me thinking... with the Sea Eagle being our team mascot we really struck it lucky in the fabulous feathered wings department. The wings are such a glamorous statement piece and they just add such a wow factor as they look so bright, fluffy and fierce in the sun!
Here I am enjoying the sun in my most favourite accessorie - the wings!!

Which made me wonder: which other club could get away with adding some of their Mascots magic into the mix? And i could actually see a few clubs being able to do it.

BUT. My most fave would have to be the Dragons and the possibility of getting their “Game of Thrones” on and stepping out in Dragon Wings. Oh la la could you imagine? Holy Khaleesi!! It would be taking the “flames” to a whole new level!

Khaleesi - the mother of dragons
Just a thought. Let it simmer. You’ll be feeling it soon! Oh yeh.

Around the grounds in June...

I love pulling together images from around the grounds each week and seeing what everyones been up to at their respective home games! The beauty of the NRL is that there is so much variety from ground to ground and that each and every squad offers an unique experience for their fans. I think it's pretty brill - as from a fans perspective - it makes every squad exciting to watch as you never know what your going to get! And secondly - who wants little clones running all over the place anyway!? yaaawnn!

Each squads uniqueness should be celebrated.

Last friday nights game at Brookvale Oval against the Sea Eagles and Bulldogs was such an exciting/emotional game to have attended and been apart of! When the scores locked at 30 all with only seconds remaining on the clock - i can say that i  have never in my 10 years on the sidelines heard the fans errupt and go crazy like it did that night. It was electric!! It was such a rollercoaster of a game and for a Manly fan - it was quite devastating to be on such a high from an  incredible come back - to then have it ripped from underneath you before you even knew what had happened!

Golden Point is the devil i say!!

On an extremely high note for the Manly Seabirds we had the honor of meeting an inspirational young man by the name of Liam Knight. Liam suffered horrific injuries when a 2m metal rod was thrown at his head by gatecrashers at a schoolfriend's 18th birthday party at the beginning of the year. He spent many months in rehabilitation for his injuries and it was amazing to see that this brave boy is finally on the mend and back in the stands supporting his beloved Manly Sea Eagles.
