The Brightest Flame of All.... xx

Here is Beautiful Tash with her Hubby Andy during her cheering days with the Flames!
A few months ago now the story of brave St George Illawarra Dragon's Cheerleader, Natasha Milne's, battle with cancer touched us all and hit home just how precious life is. Prior to hearing the news I had never personally had the pleasure of meeting Natasha, however, since then I have gained a gorgeous new friendship and can’t wait to see what the bright future holds for this honey bee!!

So I thought it would be nice to share a little update written by Tash to share how she was going in her recovery... (pssst. I warn you too- it's squeal worthy eeeekkkk) wooo wooo

Letter from Tash...
So I am in recovery!
The exciting words came through on the 18th December 2013.

Three months on I am wanting to send my thanks to everyone for the support and all the lovely messages on this blog.

Special thanks to the Dragons Cheer Squad who put on a fundraising event at the Anessi Nightclub and the staff who donated their time and the venue. To NRL Cheer coach Lisa Ince and co worker Claire Blomfield who organized the night and helped raise funds!

Not to mention Hayley, from the Manly Cheer Squad and founder of the Pom Pom Paparazzi page, who gave up her time and donated her Manly Game Day Cheerleading payments for the entire year! And finally my friends at the St George Illawarra Flames Cheer Squad who also organized a new bathroom for me at my home.

Thankyou!!

It was because of everyone's much appreciated support and blessings that I got through the tough time! I'm now on the road to recovery and Ive just started back teaching the Juniors at my beloved Dragons. It feels great to be starting back at work again finally and I am keeping positive for my future!

Thanks Again
Natasha

Cheerleaders Choice: Tan by Lucy Lane xx

Finding a fab fake tan is like finding out there has been a double episode of Game of Thrones for the week and you get to illegally download 2 in a row -OH MY - It's sky-high-five-yourself kinda fabulous!!

It's straight up glorious in fact!

Blondie on the Left (aka me) is wearing Tan by Lucy Lane
So for me a good fake tan must do the following....
1. Firstly and most importantly - it must turn me into the bronzilicious bombshell my genes have annoyingly been holding me back from. (Seriously Mum!)

2. Have a zero "sticky" policy - i can't handle walking around like a robot for more than 36seconds - i know - im hard work.

3. Finally - It must be uber gentle on my pigment lacking skin which is also at times prone to the dreaded E word in winter - Eczema.

Enter the lush range from Tan by Lucy Lane....and the adorable product colour names like Sweet Ganache, Twisted Truffle, Cinnamon Blast and Creme Brulee to match!! caaaa-ute huh!? I didn't know whether to apply those cuties to my skin or add them to a milkshake! #firstworldproblems
(I can reveal i added them to my skin - and it made me THIS excited! ha.)
Tan by Lucy Lane was what i used for our Manly Bikini Shoot

Im a big fan of this tanning range and as it is a Eco-Certified organic tan solution it is super gentle on the skin and the aloe vera based products soothe, hydrate and nourish the skin for a healthy, sun- kissed glow.

The owner of this great product is, Helene Sheehan, who i have to mention is the sweetest thing. She is based in Brisbane however she ships her products all over. Its definitely worth a try girlfriends seeing as they specialise in Cheerleader Tanning and also simply because of their "Organic" status which is so so gentle on the skin.

Big Ticks All Round!!

50 Years of NRL Cheerleaders....

Hello hello Pom Pom Pixies,

Happiest Heritage Round to you all!!

As some of you may already be aware - something absolutely scrumptious happened over the weekend (and no it wasn't the packet of snickers pods i demolished) - but drumrolllllllllll please....

50 YEARS OF CHEERLEADERS IN THE NRL WAS CELEBRATED!! eeeeekkkkk

Im so incredibly proud, mesmerised and elated to see the history of what we all adore so much be laid out in all it's glory and marked in such a special way. I have some very beautiful and kind followers here on my blog and with the help of a loyal reader named Peter - we were able to track down imagery and information that cemented the role of Cheerleaders in Rugby League dating back to 1964. Incredible huh?!

Phil Rothfield from the Daily Telegraph then stepped in and i was able to work with him to bring this huge milestone to life. 50 YEARS is definitely something to shake our pom poms over and something that we all should be so proud of.

For 50 years now there have been hundreds of women who have come before us, sharing our passion for dance and rugby league while being the feminine touch and splash of beautiful colour entertaining the fans from field to field! Here's hoping that for another 50 plus years there will be hundred's of more honey bee's continueing this fabulous NRL tradition!!

Phil really loved this story and that we were able to showcase how cheerleaders have evolved over 50 years... big snaps to him too for giving the story so much double-page love also - it was wonderful to wake up sunday morning and see my little project out in the big wide world!!

eeekkk (insert little monkey emocon covering his eyes - he is such a little dreamboat don't you think?!)

Anyway....It was a glorious day!

Happy 50 Years!!

Cheer, cheer the black and the white...

Dancers may be on the Collingwood Pies' menu?

They've been largely missing from the football scene since the days of Sydney's Swanettes and Carlton's Bluebirds, but Collingwood appears to be considering re-introducing dancers at its AFL matches.

The Pies are at pains to point out that the possible plan does not involve cheerleaders as such, but rather a street-style dance troupe of approximately six men and six women.

The dancing, if the plan goes ahead, would be part of pre-game entertainment.

Speaking on Thursday morning on Triple M, former Melbourne Storm cheerleader Jinelle Davidson revealed the Magpies had been conducting auditions for a troupe.
"There are Collingwood cheerleaders try-outs today, going for a hip-hop team," Davidson said.
Davidson is about to head off to the United States, having won a highly sought-after place on NFL franchise the Dallas Cowboys' cheerleading team.

Collingwood president and Triple M host Eddie McGuire appeared reluctant to divulge too much information about the initiative, but confirmed "there might be an announcement".

AFL: Sydney Swans Cheerleaders
Collingwood's media manager was similarly coy, but confirmed that auditions for a dancing team were taking place as the club considered ways to add value to their fans' match-day experience.

The club was clear, however, that rather than cheerleaders, it was looking at the addition of dancers.
Both Carlton and Sydney had high-profile cheerleading teams during the 1980s. Cheerleaders are commonplace in rugby league, basketball and Twenty20 cricket in Australia.
