Running away to join the circus...
Trapezing is something i have always wanted to do - who hasn't dreamt of running away and joining the circus at some stage?! So when the Manly Seabirds were surprised with a day at "Circus Arts" i was so excited and eager to live the dream for a day.
Firstly - it isnt as easy at it looks!! Holy moly - i grew up doing Gymnastics till i was 18 and even with all that training i still got nervous and struggled at first. It was such a fabulous bonding experience for us all as we spent the day yelling things like "you go girl" & "you've got this" at each other as each girl took her turn on the 10 metre platform. Haha it was hilarious!
Everyone took the plunge and got involved which was great to see. We all experienced the thrill of flying and mastered the knee-hang, the back flip to the net and finally the catch just like you’ve seen in the circus!
Letting go of all your fears and being caught by the staff was probably the most nerve racking part of the day but when you actually do it and you are caught - IT IS AMAZING!! You feel so proud of yourself and your new found skills! As you can see from the pics - it didn't hurt either that our instructor's and catchers were A-Grade babes! Thanks for organising that Monique! haha
Along with flying we also hula hooped, juggled, learnt to spin plates and walked on a tight rope. It was an adventure packed day that ended with our own version of "High Tea" in the park! We felt incredibly spoilt and loved every minute of our team bonding day out!!

Enjoy snap shots from Round 3 of the NRL season.... Ladies from the Knights, Tigers, Sharks, Roosters, Titans and Panthers all had home games and made plenty of appearances on Fox Sports throughout the games! Snaps all round to Fox Sports this year - there has been so much Cheer Love and coverage for all squads and its flash seeing pom pom pixies from each squad lighting up our TV screens each week!

Monday Memories....
The four gorgoues girls in the picture with me below were my 2012 Seabird Group 1 honey bee's. I was incredibly honored to be named a group leader at Manly last year and Lauren, Amy, Sarah and Ellen were the most special and sweetest girls to share it with!
As a Group Leader your roles to name a few include setting an example and upholding all seabird values, ensuring sideline cheers are organised on game days, making sure your team members are 100% with all routine choreography and lastly being a mamma bear so to say and being there for the girls lending an ear with any queries or issue that may arise throughout the season. It really is the most rewarding role and our 4 groups really strengthen the bond we all share even more so if possible!!

Mention should be made also that Ellen was Rookie of the Year in 2011

Every year we eagerly await as a team for Barbie to be revealed by Monique with the hair being the last thing to be revealed....as it is normally a tell tale as to who has won! The squeals of excitement that ensue are just priceless and the winner is always so overcome with emotion that they don't believe it is actually them who gets to take home the one of a kind most treasured item!!
In my time cheerleading at both Souths and Manly i was lucky and extremley honored to be named Cheerleaders Cheerleader two years running and Cheerleader of the Year twice. Once at Souths and once at Manly. My "Hayley Barbie Bunny" and "Hayley Barbie Seabird" are so precious to me and will be treasures i keep forever to keep my cheerleading memories bright and sparkly!!
