2013 Cheerleader of the Year Winner: Steph

7 of the 8 2013 Big League Cheerleader of the Year Finalists
Our 2013 Cheerleader of the Year
On Monday night at the glittery establishment that is The Ivy , the lovely & sweet Steph from the St George Illawarra Dragons was crowned the 2013 Big League Cheerleader of the Year! Oh Yeh...You Go Girlfriend!!
Winner: Dragons Cheerleader Steph with Fox Sports Warren Smith
& Mary Holland's Belinda Roelofs

For the first time in the Big League competition history - a sparkly and fabulous cocktail party was the backdrop to crowning our girl for the year! Hosted by Fox Sports Warren Smith and with a variety of familiar faces such as The Footy Show's Erin Molan there to cover the event - it was one of those rare nights where the NRL Cheerleading community had the chance to get together, socialise and celebrate another great season!

This year a new Sponsor in Mary Holland Lingerie came on board and the top 16 Cheerleaders were invited to appear in a calendar which would then be sold with all proceeds going to the Mcgrath Foundation. (Bravo, bravo for such a fab choice of foundations to support!)

Cheerleaders from the Panthers, Knights, Tigers, Titans, Broncos, Raiders, Sharks and Eels appeared in the calendar and it is for sale at maryholland.com as well as in their Sydney stores.

Belinda Roelofs from Mary Holland Lingerie who was responisble for putting together the fab event has signed on for the next 3 years and is extremely passionate and full of love for the girls of the NRL and hopes to take the compeition from strength to strength. It's Refreshing.com indeed!!

On a side note too - a big thank you goes out to Belinda for inviting me to the event and for being such a big supporter of the Blog! It was so flash to be able to meet so many yummy's from other clubs, talk cheerleading and for us all to be reaching a stage where we are each other's biggest supporters! There's something magic in the air this season girlfriends.... i can feel it!!

Like ive mentioned previously too - i still get a rush hearing that there are lovers of the blog out there -and being able to meet and squeeeeze (yep im a big squeezer) so many dolly's at monday's event was a highlight for me. So big thanks for the kind words Honey Bee's.

Now for all those clubs still dancing and luxuriating their way into the finals series - have so much fun, take lots of pics (send them in) and soak up those big crowds. There's nothing quite like it!

Just when i thought my week couldn't get any better - the gorgeous ones at Ultimate Cheerleaders have gone and given The Pom Pom Paparazzi a shout out!! I couldn't be any more excited or thankful. eeekk!! I have been completely obsessed with their site for a number of years now and they were apart of what inspired me to create this blog for NRL Cheerleaders to start with! They are plain and simply the best of the best and crème de la crème of cheerleading blogs world wide! So big thanks to Sasha and the gang for the support - it means alot!

Mwazies xx

Have a read of the blog post below...

"Big ups for The Pom Pom Paparazzi. This is a shout out that’s been on my to-do list for ages. The site is administered by Hayley, a current member of the Manly Sea Eagles Sea Birds. She provides a birds-eye view (bad pun intended) of the world of professional cheerleading in the National Rugby League. DO check it out. TODAY"

Vote for the Big League Cheerleader of the Year

In Australia, the big sport is rugby. Their National Rugby League (NRL) is, I think the Down Under equivalent to the NFL. (Interesting factoid: Although it is Australia’s league, there is one team from New Zealand. Kind of like the Raptors are included in the NBA. Another interesting factoid: all of the teams are clustered along the Eastern perimeter of the country. They aren’t spread out over the whole of Australia. No clue why that is.)

There are 16 clubs in the league, and all but one have a cheer team. The one that doesn’t is the South Sydney Rabbitohs. They used to have cheerleaders, called the “Bunnies” (of course), but Russell Crowe put the kibosh on that when he got involved with the club’s leadership. Yes, that Russell Crowe. Not that we care about him.

Every year, each of the fifteen remaining teams nominates two cheerleaders for the “Big League Cheerleader of the Year.” Big League is, I gather, a major sport magazine. In the first round, voters decide which of the two reps from each team will compete against the other teams. Once they’ve narrowed it down to one cheerleader from each team, then they vote to select THE winnner. I think they do 2×2 matchups. The one who wins the whole shebang is named Cheerleader of the Year. I don’t know what all that entails. Maybe just bragging rights. But still, those are some pretty rad bragging rights. You can tell everyone that YOU are #1 out of the whole entire league.

We should try that here. Presenting the UltimateCheerleaders.com NFL Cheerleader of the Year…year…year…year (< --that's the impressive-sounding echo.) Come on, who wouldn’t want that title?

But back to the subject at hand. The NRL season is winding down (Finals start in August), and so it is also time to wrap up this year’s cheerleader vote. Unfortunately, you and I are furriners, so we don’t get to vote. Regardless, this is a good time to take a look at this year’s NRL cheerleader squads. Shall we?
We shall.

Jbronze me Bre-utiful....

Okay PomPomer's.... time to share some tried and tested results! Recently i blogged about my love affair with a special tanning/moisturing/bronzing routine which has pretty much been my cheer secret and go to routine for quite some time now.

WELL.... firstly - i get a huge excitement rush even hearing that people actually read my blog so i never realised it could be such a big "OMG" moment for one Seabird in particular. Cut to saturday night in the Seabird Aviary at the Manly v Storm game and Bre was jumping up and down like a playful little pussycat over the moon with the results of the tanning routine! She literally had her tub of emulsifying ointment out rubbing it onto all the girls skin - sharing the love and pushing the luxuriousness onto anyone she could get her little paws on.

haha it has been a game changer for her and she now swears by the system too...... oh yeh.... get onboard the #TanTrain girlfriend. Choo Choo!!

Now i can't lay claim to Bre-utiful's devilishly yummy looks (Mumma B has to take the wraps on that one).... but today.... i will lay claim to her smooth, soft and scrumptiously bronzed skin! The photographers at the game were surely impressed by it too! ha.

Has anyone else given it a whirl yet and crossed over to the smooth side??

(I will refer to this now as the #hayleyseabirdsystem) ha!
