Easter Hopping Around the Grounds....Round 4

The Easter long weekend has always been one of my most favourite times of the year to cheer. I love the family atmosphere that the Easter period brings to game days as well as the excitement that the kids get on their faces when given chocolate easter eggs! It never gets old.

This year the Manly Seabirds had our Easter Egg-stravaganza round at Blue Tongue Stadium and it was one of the wettest and windiest nights ive cheered in. Im talking heavy non stop rain that completely soaked us each time we took to the field to dance - not even a group prayer to the Cheer Gods helped - but the rain wasn't going to stop us!

We got to wear our gorgeous white wings which we are all obsessed with in our pre game routine - its always such a laugh because every game we get to wear those wings its like each and every one of us is taken over by our wishful Victoria's Secret Angel alter ego's. A girl can dream!! haha

At half time we hopped, bopped, flipped, cartwheeled and jump split  our little hearts out in our super fun maroon polka dot easter dresses. Make sure you check out the video of our routine - the music alone will get you in a good mood and the big finish with the jump splits is exciting to watch.

I was able to squeeze in watching a few of  the NRL games over the long weekend and one of those was the Bulldogs v Souths game. I always love seeing the Belle's light up the screen as the players run out of the tunnel - their colours and costumes always look so beautiful and bright!

In the end the result didn't go the girls way but it was an excititng game with the return of Ben Barba and a record number of fans reaching close to 52,000 in attendance!! The atmosphere must have been amazing!!

Another game was the Roosters v Eels match which ended up being a runaway game for the chooks. 50 -0 holy moly it took me back to 2008 when Manly beat the Storm 40 -0 in the grand final. The girls were rocking sweet bunny ears and i spotted some of their junior girls on the sidelines looking ever so cute too!

Dee Why cheerleader enters
 Lingerie Football League

MEET the Dee Why cheerleader set to get down and dirty as a competitor in next year's Australian version of the Lingerie Football League.

Courtney Watts tackled, ran and passed her way on to the Sydney team in the league try-outs last month on the back of successful stints as a cheerleader for the Parramatta Eels and the Sydney Kings National Basketball League team.

And while the blonde bombshell may be easy on the eye in skimpy lingerie, the 23-year-old is adamant she isn't all about just looking good on the field.

"I love football and being a cheerleader it's nice to now be in the field of play rather than on the sidelines ... so bring it on," Ms Watt, a personal trainer, said.

"Even though I'm probably one of the smallest girls (to qualify for the team in trials) I'm fast and defence-wise I can work on that."

And Ms Watts had a message for those who question the legitimacy of lingerie football as a sport.
"We are real women playing real sport," she said.
