Sirens set to wow fans...

New-look Titans cheerleaders revealed

THEIR new mascot may be a pig, but there is nothing porkish about the new-look Titans cheerleaders. The girls claim to be more toned, fit and healthy than ever before as they transform from Titanettes to the Hog's Breath Cafe Sirens.

Sirens were dangerous and beautiful creatures which lured sailors with their enchanting music and voices to shipwrecks on their islands, according to Greek mythology.

Some Titans players hope they have a similar effect on their rivals each week, while others are just looking forward to taking advantage of the new two-year partnership with Hog's Breath. Titans fullback William Zillman said luckily Hog's Breath did not name them something "pig related". "I knew they wouldn't do that to them," he said. "It's great to have them on board, I'm a big Hog's Breath fan."

Cheerleading coach Megan McInally said the girls were also concerned about the potential quirky squad names, but were happy with the Sirens.

"As soon as we heard it would be Hogs Breath Sirens, we were actually relieved," she said. Ms McInally said the team had to up the ante this year -- doubling gym hours, detoxing, watching diets and intensifying dance lessons.

"About 25 per cent of the girls are new and we're definitely a fitter and stronger squad," she said.

The Sirens will introduce a more commercial dance style to their routines starting this Sunday when the Titans take on the Canberra Raiders at Skilled Park. The new fluro pink Hogster mascot will also be there and at each home game to help rev-up crowds.
